"Pungalina is a very rare gem indeed. Our party will return in the not too distant future, and in the
mean time will sings its praises. We are aware we only just scratched the surface of the uniqueness of the place."
....Carolyn Cafe & Ian Barnes....May 2007

“ Having been at the forefront of Cave exploration around Australia the Victorian Speleological Association are honoured to able to explore and document the Pristine caves at Pungalina.  These caves are certainly among the best (definitely the oldest) we have explored anywhere in Australia.”...Paul Brooker – Victorian Speleological Association...2006

"Pungalina was everything I imagined .Being so remote is an experience I will never forget. Its wonderful to learn first hand so much about Australia and our heritage. Its  hard to actually describe what Pungalina really is like, I suppose to say it is something I will never forget ......"  Simon de Winter - Melbourne 2006

"We had a fabulous time at Pungalina. The whole experience was most enjoyable starting with the warm  reception from your friendly staff and delicious lunch at the Safari camp on our arrival. We found all the activities very interesting, from the diversity of being able to swim in the bubbling hot sands spring, barramundi fishing, to the underground cave and all in between. The airstrip was in great condition and easy to locate. We would strongly recommend Pungalina to any flying travellers and suggest a couple of days at a minimum for a relaxed visit.".....Liz and Don McNaught...Qld... 2006

"On the recent return from Pungalina of Kevin and myself after our 2006 visit, we must congratulate both you and Owen for the excellent time we had. The staff, “soft top accommodation, meals, fishing, and the weather were all excellent and I am not aware of another fishing spot anywhere in the world where you can hook into 12 Baramundi in two and half days in such great water".  .......  Alan Currie - Albury NSW

"The unspoilt countryside and the remoteness make Pungalina a unique place to visit.  Every minute of our stay was a great experience made even more enjoyable and rewarding thanks to the hospitality of Owen and his staff.  The most comfortable camping we’ve ever had, and great food in wonderful surroundings. It’s a “must visit” place for everyone, especially private aeroplane owners like ourselves.  What a great way to get to a great location.  Thanks Owen"......Sue and Gerry Turner -  Mackay, Queensland

"Pungalina itself is just an incredible place. The Campsite is very comfortable and peaceful. We had many enjoyable hours yarning by the campfire and swimming in the spring fed stream with a glass of champagne. The activities each day all involved into something special with the billycart, the waterholes , the bubbling springs, the canoeing, the limestone caves, the escarpments and the fishing. The staff were great. Lou's  camp cooking was always eagerly anticipated and Owen's incredible knowledge of the bush and the area rounded off this unique experience"......David Beatty - Melbourne 2006

"Just when you think you have seen Australia – imagine this little spot where the driveway is 64kms long – the barramundi are fresh and plentiful, the Gulf is a drive up the road, the  wetlands are full of Australian birds, the hospitality is keen, the rivers are deep and refreshing -  all just a fully escorted flight away from your home – Pungalina is an adventure no to be missed" – David Gibbs - Melbourne 2005

"My wife Donna and I visited Pungalina in early June 2006 and would firstly like to congratulate and thank, you and all of your staff for the courteous help and attention that we received right from our very first contact via email  through to our wonderful stay!
We have travelled fairly extensively around Australia and overseas and would definitely rate Pungalina as a "very  special" and unique destination that would be hard to rival anywhere in the world!  The Safari Camp was a  veritable "oasis in the wilderness" and an "Eden like paradise" with its lush green lawns, rustic showers and toilets and best of all its pandanus palm shrouded spring that meanders past the camp providing both a breathtaking backdrop to the camp and a crystal clear, spa like swimming  pool to ease your aching muscles at the end of a big day exploring Pungalina!
Once you reluctantly tear yourself away from 'Red Claw Beach" at the spring, you begin to discover all of the other "wonders" of Pungalina like Barramundi fishing along the scenic Calvert river, nestled between multi-coloured cliffs of the escarpment or just enjoying a sunset cruise on the unique and eerie "Lake Crocodillus" or perhaps, just like us ,you sense that you are one of the privileged few  to explore one of the many beautiful limestone caves full of unreal formations formed by millions of years of natures work! Then there was the prehistoric stromatolites, the aboriginal quarry and the many, and varied springs that seem to be everywhere turning the rugged, but beautiful country into further little pockets of "paradise". All of this without mentioning the wide and diverse flora and fauna that is sure to "fill up your digital cameras memory"!
Overall, we found Pungalina, to be an unbelievable wilderness adventure to which one could not help feeling as you left, was very, very special! We are eagerly looking forward to our next visit to Pungalina and would recommend it to anyone looking for a unique Australian outback experience!"  -Rick and Donna Clewes-- Noosa Heads, Qld

"I believe Pungalina is one of the most exciting and beautiful destinations I have been lucky enough to visit during a long career of flying aircraft around the Pacific. The meals, the hospitality, the red clay brick bathroom, the accommodation, the dingo's what beautiful animals, the creek in front of the kitchen, the beautiful waterfalls, the rivers full of marine life, the fishing, the hiking, the bird life , the palm trees, the red jagged cliffs and much more all combine to make this one of Australia's top destinations. The host / guide Owen Davies is one of a kind whose knowledge, experience, stories and sense of humor were well appreciated. I was at Pungalina for 3 very short days in May 06. I am writing this in October 06. I honestly believe this destination to be one of the top 6 destinations in Australia. Good luck to Owen and Tony" -  Gregory Letondeur --- Chief Pilot. Daintree Air Services--- Cairns.
